We see these around fairly often. I have always liked them. But they are usually too deep into the woods and too far away to get any sort of photograph. This photo isn’t good, but since the Pileated Woodpecker (Dryocopus pileatus) hadn’t made an appearance on the blog yet, I decided to post it anyway. I was ridiculously far away from it, so this is the best I could get.
