Last crocus photos of the season

This was one of the last crocus photos that I took for this season.  We would have had blooms for a little longer but we got a heavy frost shortly after this was taken, that finished them off for the season.  But I enjoyed them this year, as I am sure you noticed by the excessive number of photographs I took of them.  🙂

More crocuses

Ok I know, lots and lots of crocus.  But honestly I haven’t seen much else yet.  And I like them.  And they don’t last long so… if you’re getting bored of them don’t worry soon they will be gone for another year.

But in the meantime here are a few more blooms:

It’s no wonder the bees were so attracted to them today.  Look at all the pollen this year!

Mystery Solved

Last year I wondered why some of my crocuses had crooked, wiry looking leaves when the rest did not. I wasn’t sure what it was. Now I know. Apparently that is what the leaves turn to, when the plant is being (or has been) chewed on by a slug.

And here is the culprit on the bloom beside of it, caught in the act:

I didn’t have the heart to squish him.  But I put him on a stick and flung him over the hill.  🙂
I read something saying they home in and come straight back to where they were, but so far it’s been 10 days and it has not came back yet.
